La Roca – Amazing Mexican Food in Lincoln City

What began as a little taqueria in Philomath is now La Roca restaurant in Lincoln City. Opened in 1999 by Eladio Huesca, Tino Huesca and Hugo Nuñez, is now the home of fresh, home-made Mexican food on the central coast of Oregon. It’s as authentic as you could get anywhere in Oaxaca.

Excellent prices and incredible taste

In our opinion, La Roca is the best value for Mexican food in Lincoln City, combining excellent prices and incredible taste, with a vast menu and generous portion sizes.

“I think the secret is the consistency, above all,” says Eladio Huesca, co-founder of La Roca. “I believed that from the very beginning. We have followed the same process of getting better every day.”

The menu includes standards like burritos and tacos, chiles relleno, chimichangas and tamales, tostadas, quesadillas and various egg dishes (great in the mornings—they open at 10:30). But, while there isn’t any stand out dish, the sauces speak for themselves. The mole is excellent, and all salsa served with meals and chips are made fresh in the restaurant.

If you order an entrée, expect to get it topped with Queso cotija. If you’re a spice fan, you’ll go through your chips with salsa and ask for more. And for those who need even more spice, they stock “El Yucateco” hot sauce for a habanero kick.

A culinary gem in little Lincoln City

“Many people ask us why the prices are so low for the quality, compared to Portland or Salem,” says, Eladio. “But my brother decided, that it’s good enough, that that’s what it will be. He’s happy with the prices, and with the clientele.”

It is great Mexican food, made with love and consistency by a family that has been steadily improving for 20 years. It’s a culinary gem in little Lincoln City.

Vidulfa Jimenez has been working here 13 years, and when asked which meal she likes best, for her, the answer is clear. The carne asade, the camarones a la diabla with a very hot sauce.”

“And the fajitas.”
